You don’t have to prove anything here.
Therapy in atlanta and across georgia for adults and teens whose lives place high demands on their performance, identity, or capacity
Has “doing fine” become synonymous with functioning while suffering?
A lot is expected of you. It probably always has been. You are used to rigorous schedules, high expectations, competition, responsibility, and pressure to perform. You meet the deadline, show up for the exam, the game, the patient, the performance, the family, the next thing on the list.
You have always been good at it. You know how to push through, figure things out, and do what needs to be done even when something is hard. That ability has probably gotten you pretty far. Somewhere along the way, rest starts to feel like something you have to earn. Struggle needs to be justified. Dropping the ball feels absolutely off the table.
So, when something is in the way, it can feel impossible to explain. It is not that you do not “care.” It is not that you do not “want it.” Your days are more demanding than most people realize, and the demands do not disappear just because something is hard. Slowing down long enough to acknowledge your own pain feels uncomfortable, unproductive, and even unsafe.
At Anthos, we take your strength seriously. We also take your pain seriously.
You do not have to minimize your struggle because you have learned how to carry it well. And you do not have to earn support by falling apart first.
You may not know what to call it, but something needs to change.
Maybe you feel like…
You should feel more connected, but you feel alone.
You should be able to make the right decision, but you cannot figure out what that decision is this time.
You should be grateful and enjoying your life, but you’re genuinely sad, weighed down, or unhappy.
You should feel like a go-getter, but you are exhausted.
You should be “over it”, but the same thing continues to bother you and play over and over again in your mind.
Knowing you have “the drive” does not make you immune to depression, grief, pressure, loneliness, injury, uncertainty, or change. “Success,” in whatever way you’ve learned to define it, does not mean your needs matter less.
Here’s the good news:
Your symptoms are not the whole story.
They are data. And even if they don’t match how you’re used to feeling, or don’t match who you know you really are, they do make sense in context.
The way you think, feel, behave, and relate to others developed within the systems you are part of: your family, relationships, communities, environments, and life experiences. When you have a fuller understanding of what has shaped you, you can start to identify what patterns can change and which rules can be rewritten.
Understanding creates options.
Options give you the opportunity to choose a different way forward.
Sometimes, we need space to recognize that there may be more than one explanation for what we’re feeling and more than one way to move forward.
Over time, many of us begin making choices based on expectations, circumstances, diagnosis, or survival. We adapt to the systems around us so well that we forget we can actually choose something different. While we cannot always choose what happens to us, we can become more intentional about what happens next.
Therapy creates the space to understand without judgement and pressure. Together, we start to separate what society wants, what your profession or status says you should want, and what diagnoses want, from what you value and need.
You can begin this work at any stage:
When you just start to notice the signs that something feels off
When you’ve been carrying it for years
When you are closer to rock bottom than you want to admit.
The goal is not to become a different person.
It’s to help you become the expert on you and make informed decisions that move you forward.

You do not have to be easy to help.
You do not have to arrive with a clear story, a perfect explanation, or a polished version of what hurts.
You can be angry. Unsure. Shut down. Overwhelmed. Embarrassed by how long this has been taking. Tired of trying to fix yourself. Tired of being judged. Tired of feeling like you have to convince people that what is happening inside you is real.
I believe you.
My work is steady, curious, and direct. I will not rush to fix you, flatten your experience, or reduce your life to a diagnosis. I won’t expect you to have it all figured out or define you based on your abilities or success in the past. I also will not leave you alone in endless analysis. We slow things down enough to understand what is happening, then use that understanding to create movement.
You can bring the parts of yourself that feel ambiguous or dark–I can hold your complexity. You can bring the parts that feel contradictory and I’ll be able to see both sides. You can bring the parts that feel too much, too weird, too taboo, or too all over the place and my brain will immediately zoom out to examine the context and follow the threads to connect the dots.
I am here to help you navigate the hard questions, not shy away from them. I won’t tell you there’s one “right” way for you to heal. My job is to help you understand yourself well enough to know which choice is right for you.

our process
-
When you are ready to get started, begin by filling out a simple questionnaire. We ask a few questions about what you’re ready to work through in therapy so we can recommend the best next steps. We’ll personally respond to schedule your first session.
-
The first step is creating a relationship and environment where you can be honest without judgment or pressure. We begin with what is happening now and what you need most immediately.
-
Together, we explore the context and systems that have shaped your story. This helps us understand what may be contributing to your experience and what needs attention, support, or change.
-
Understanding is not the same thing as staying stuck in analysis. Insight is only powerful when it creates movement. We work toward doable changes that fit your life, your values, your needs, and your capacity.
You can feel more like yourself.
But not the old version of you exactly.
Instead, a version of you who…
Can be ambitious, without being ruled by pressure.
Can be in progress, without feeling ashamed of not already being complete.
Can relax, without the weight of the world running through your head when things get quiet
No longer wakes up feeling like you are behind, failing, or trying to catch up to who you think you should be.
Can recognize your needs, communicate them, and set boundaries without carrying the same level of guilt.
Is connecting with parts of yourself you thought you lost or never truly found: your confidence, curiosity, joy, relationships, creativity, or sense of purpose.
The ripple effect
This work is also about realizing it was never just about you in isolation. The way you understand yourself changes how you show up in your relationships, your family, your work, and your life, too.
